ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved hollow cathode spectral light source which exhibits improved long-lived light output. An apertured baffle member is disposed between the device anode and the light output end of the envelope, with the aperture diameter and the spacing between the anode and the baffle member determined to minimize deposition of cathode material on the interior surface of the light output end of the envelope.
