An asymmetric membrane comprising a tubular polymer film in combination with a tubular braid on which the film is supported, requires the braid be macroporous and flexible, yet sufficiently strong to withstand continuous flexing, stretching and abrasion during use for microfiltration (MF) or ultrafiltration (UF). The specifications for a braid of a long-lived membrane are provided. A membrane is formed by supporting a polymer film in which particles of calcined .alpha.-alumina are dispersed, on the defined tubular braid.
L'invention concerne une membrane asymétrique comprenant un film polymère tubulaire combiné à une tresse tubulaire lui servant de support. La tresse doit être macroporeuse et flexible, mais néanmoins suffisamment forte pour résister à la flexion, l'étirement et l'abrasion se produisant de manière continue lors de son utilisation pour la microfiltration (MF) ou l'ultrafiltration (UF). L'invention porte également sur les spécifications concernant la tresse d'une membrane de longue durée. La formation de la membrane dépend du support d'un film polymère dans lequel sont dispersées des particules d'.alpha.-alumine calcinée, sur la tresse tubulaire définie.
