The present invention relates to a hollow walled drumshell having an inner wall and an outer wall separated by annular spacers provided at the upper and lower ends of the walls. This arrangement provides for a continuous and uninterrupted air space to be formed between the two walls, which produces a better quality and more pure sound when the drum is played. The hollow walled drumshell can be a part of a free-floating drum, wherein no hardware contacts the drumshell, to maintain the true sound of the drum.
