The invention provides an optical element comprising a first hologram (1) and a second hologram (2) separated by an intervening medium (30). The holograms (1, 2) have the same diffraction spacing and refractive index, but the first hologram (1) has an efficiency about one-half that of the second hologram (2), preferably about 50 % and >95 %, respectively. The geometry and the refractive index of the intervening medium (3) are such that an input beam (B) of mixed light undergoes diffraction and refraction to produce output beams (p1, p2) which combine in a controllably self-cancelling manner. Methods for the production of this element are also described.
L'invention concerne un élément optique comprenant un premier hologramme (1) et un second hologramme (2) séparés par un milieu intermédiaire (30). Les hologrammes (1, 2) ont le même écartement de diffraction et le même indice de réfraction, mais le premier (1) a un rendement égal à environ la moitié de celui du second (2), de préférence aux environs de 50 et >95 % respectivement. La géométrie et l'indice de réfraction du milieu intermédiaire (30) sont tels qu'un faisceau d'entrée (B) de lumière mixte subit une diffraction et une réfraction, de façon à produire des faisceaux de sortie (p1, p2) qui se combinent selon une auto-annulation réglable. L'invention concerne également des procédés de fabrication dudit élément.
