Abstract of the disclosure: A homocarnosine or acylhomocarnosine salt of the formula: Image [wherein R means a hydrogen atom or an acyl group; M means a zinc atom or an aluminum atom; a denotes an inter- ger of 1 to 3; and b denotes an interger of 0 to 21 which can be produced by reacting homocarnosine or acyl- homocarnosine with a zinc compound such as zinc chloride or zinc hydroxide etc., or with an aluminum alkoxide. The homocarnosine or acylhomocarnosine salt has excellent antiulcer and wound healing-promoting activities and is very low in toxicity.
