A homogeneous polymerization process is described for making substantially homogeneous terpolymers of, by weight, 55-99 %, preferably 65-95 % of vinyl pyrrolidone; 0.5-49 %, preferably 1-25 % of a quaternary amino monomer, preferably 3-methacrylamidopropyl trimethylammonium chloride; and 0.5-49 %, preferably 1-25 %, of a hydrophobic monomer, preferably octadecyl methacrylate. The homogeneous terpolymer provides dual hair styling and conditioning functions in hair care applications.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de polymérisation homogène permettant de fabriquer des terpolymères homogènes constitués, en poids, de 55 à 99 % (de préférence 65 à 95 %) de pyrrolidone de vinyle, de 0,5 à 49 % (de préférence de 1 à 25 %) d'un monomère d'amine quaternaire, de préférence du chlorure de 3-méthacrylamidopropyle triméthylammonium, et de 0,5 à 49 % (de préférence de 1 à 25 %) d'un monomère hydrophobe, de préférence de méthacrylate octadécylique. Le terpolymère homogène obtenu offre à la fois les caractéristiques d'un produit facilitant le coiffage et celles d'un produit destiné aux soins des cheveux.
