ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to new homophthalimide derivatives which possess interesting pharmacological properties and in particular, in general, an antiarrhythmic activity. Several processes for the preparation and interconversion of these compounds are described and exemplified. Examples of pharmaceutical compositions containing the new compounds are also given. The new compounds of the invention have the formula: Image (I) wherein A and B which may be the same or different, each represents a straight chain saturated alkylene radical containing from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, optionally substituted by a methyl or a phenyl group; R1, R2, R3 and R4, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom, a hydroxy, amino, nitro or acetylamino group or an alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio group each of which may contain from 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R5, R6, R7 and R8, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms optionally substituted by a phenyl or methoxyphenyl group or R5 and R6 and/or R7 and R8 together represent straight chain saturated alkylene radicals containing from 2 to 5 carbon atoms; and R9 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms optionally substituted by a phenyl group; or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
