A polyethylene is disclosed having the following properties: an annealed density D / weight average molecular weight Mw relationship defined by the equation D > 1104.5Mw-0.0116, and a Charpy Impact I / High Load Melt Index H relationship defined by the equation I > 35.OH-0.4. A polyethylene film is also disclosed having the following properties: a density of at least 957 kg/m3; a Dart Impact of at least 130 g; and a polydispersity of less than 12. Both may be made using a tridentate nitrogen-containing transition metal polymerisation catalyst.

L'invention porte sur un polyéthylène aux propriétés suivantes: rapport entre la densité à l'état recuit D et le poids moléculaire moyen M¿w? défini par D?1104,5M¿w??-0,0116¿; rapport entre la résistance au choc Charpy I et l'indice H de fluidité à chaud sous forte charge défini par I?35,0 H?-0,4¿. L'invention porte également sur un film de polyéthylène aux propriétés suivantes: densité d'au moins 957 kg/m?3¿; indice I de résistance au choc Dart d'au moins 130g; polydispersité inférieure à 12. Tous deux peuvent s'obtenir à l'aide d'un catalyseur de polymérisation d'un métal de transition à l'azote tridenté.
