A method to control the formulation, persistence and dispersion of microbial biofilms by taking advantage of the natural process of cell-cell communication in bacte-ria. Addition of N-(3-oxododecanoyl)-L-homoserine lactone (OdDHL) and N-butyryl-L-homoserine lactone (BHL) either in combination or separately or the addition of chemi-cals which will enhance or inhibit the activity of OdDHL and BHL can inhibit the formation, persistence or dispersion of bacterial and algal biofilms, in industrial, medical and envi-ronmental situations.
L'invention concerne un procédé de régulation de la formation, de la persistance et de la dispersion de films biologiques microbiens, qui consiste à tirer profit d'un traitement naturel de la communication cellule-cellule dans les bactéries. L'addition de N-(3-oxododécanoyl)-L-homosérine lactone (OdDHL) et de N-butyryl-L-homosérine lactone (BHL) en combinaison ou séparément, ou l'addition de produits chimiques qui vont améliorer ou inhiber l'activité de OdDHL et BHL, peut inhiber la formation, la persistance ou la dispersion de films biologiques bactériens ou algaux dans les secteurs industriels, médicaux et environnementaux.
