A neural network based on the Hopfield model is used to operate a high speed packet switch, particularly for use in a broad band switching system. The optimisation parameters are established in a novel methodical way, and imposed attractors arc used substantially to increase the speed of convergence. To reduce the likehood of local minima being found, noise is introduced into the system by varying a parameter of the neuron transfer function from iteration to iteration.

On fait appel à un réseau neuronal basé sur le modèle Hopfield pour faire fonctionner un commutateur de paquets à grande vitesse utilisé notamment dans un système de commutation à large bande. Les paramètres d'optimisation sont établis selon une nouvelle méthode, et les attracteurs imposés sont utilisés essentiellement pour augmenter la vitesse de convergence. Afin de diminuer la possibilité de trouver des minimums locaux, on introduit du bruit dans le système en faisant varier un paramètre de la fonction de transfert neuronal d'une itération à une autre itération.
