An improved horizontally-oriented machine capable of forming a trays or other similar fiberboard containers from single blanks. The improved machine includes three distinct sections: (1) a loading bay which includes a vertical lift, a sheet feeder, and a unique set of gates for pre-positioning the end flaps of container blanks for later folding; (2) an adhesion and flap-folding section which includes adhesive applicators, a series of folding plows and a compression area for pre-folding the end flaps of the container to be formed; and (3) a final forming section including an adjustable vertically mounted mandrel surrounded by adjustable forming plows for making the final container. The flap-folding section includes a flight chain assembly which can be easily lowered when the machine is not operating, to allow service access to the interior of the machine in the event of a jam or misfeed, thereby avoiding the time consuming task of cutting or tearing out the misfeed, and allowing the machine to be quickly brought back on line.

La machine améliorée comprend trois sections distinctes: (1) une baie de chargement comprenant un dispositif élévateur, un dispositif d'alimentation en feuilles et un jeu unique de portes pour prépositionner les rabats d'extrémité des découpes de récipients en vue d'un pliage ultérieur; (2) une section collage et pliage des rabats qui comprend des applicateurs d'adhésif, une série d'éléments plieurs et une zone de compression pour préplier les rabats d'extrémité du récipient à former; et (3) une section de formage final comprenant un mandrin réglable formé verticalement et entouré d'éléments de formage pour faire le récipient final. La section de pliage des rabats comprend un assemblage de chaîne volante qui peut être facilement abaissé quand la machine ne fonctionne pas, de sorte qu'on ait accès à l'intérieur de la machine pour fins de service en cas de blocage ou de problème d'alimentation, ce qui permet d'éviter les délais causés par les défauts d'alimentation, qui obligent à couper ou déchirer le carton en passage défectueux, de manière à relancer rapidement la machine.
