ABSTRACT A horizontal electrostatic precipitator for removing dust from dust containing sulphurous gases, which consists of a housing accommodating chambers arranged along the length of the housing and communication with one another. These chambers are formed by vertical partitions secured to the upper, lower and side walls inside the-housing. The first chamber downstream the gas flow is used for uniform distribution of the gas to be cleaned in the following chambers. These chambers are provided with vertical grounded electrodes arranged in parallel to one another and used for precipitating the collected dust. Located between the grounded electrodes at equal distances therefrom are electrodes supplied with a negative potential.
