Use of a compound of formula (I) or a 3-enol C1 to 4 alkanoate ester thereof in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of a hormone dependant condition by modulation of the oestrogen receptor .beta. (ER.beta.) wherein R1, R2 R5 and R6 are the same or different and each is hydrogen or C1 to 4 alkyl; R3 is hydrogen, C1 to 4 alkyl, C1 to 4 alkenyl or C1 to 4 alkynyl; R4 is hydroxy, C1 to 4 alkanoyloxy, a group of formula (II) or (III) wherein R7 is (CH2)n, where n is an integer of from 0 to 4, R8 is hydrogen, C1 to 4 alkyl, hydroxy or NH2 and R9 and R10 are the same or different and each is hydrogen or C1 to 4 alkyl; or R3 and R4 together are oxo, ethylenedioxy or propylenedioxy.

L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'un composé selon la formule (I) ou un 3-énol C1 à 4 alkanoate ester de ce dernier, dans la fabrication d'un médicament permettant de traiter un état hormonodépendant par la modulation du récepteur beta (ER beta ) d'oestrogènes. Dans la formule, R1, R2, R5 et R6 sont similaires ou différents et chacun représente hydrogène ou C1 à 4 alkyl;R3 représente hydrogène, C1 à 4 alkyl, C1 à 4 alkényle ou C1 à 4 alkynyle; R4 est hydroxy, C1 est 4 alcanoyloxy, un groupe de la formule (II) ou (III) où R7 représente (CH2)n, où n est un nombre entier compris entre 0 et 4, R8 représente hydrogène, C1 à 4 alkyle, hydroxy ou NH2 et R9 et R10 sont similaires ou différents et chacun représente hydrogène ou C1 à 4 alkyle; ou R3 et R4 ensemble représentent oxo, éthylènedioxy ou propylènedioxy.
