A horseshoe for affixing to a hoof, the horseshoe compris- ing a frame with a top and a bottom, the frame defining a plurality of holes therethrough, and a plurality of screws for screwing the shoe onto the hoof. Springs are provided between the screws and the bottom surface of the shoe to bias the shoe to the horse's hoof. A method for shoeing a horse using the horseshoe of the invention includes the steps of cleaning the hoof of the horse, placing the top surface of the horse- shoe against the bottom surface of said hoof, marking a plurality of indicia onto the bottom surface of the hoof through one or more of the holes defined through the horseshoe, removing the horseshoe from the hoof, selecting a plurality of locations, each associated with one of the indicia, to drill pilot holes into said hoof, drilling pilot holes and screw- ing the horseshoe to the hoof.
