A hot beverage brewing appliance having an integrated water reservoir accessible by a dedicated first lid and a brewing chamber having a separate, second lid. The brewing water reservoir are thus accessible independently. The brewing chamber houses a removable brew basket having a finger gasp which is externally accessible. As such, the brew basket can be removed directly from the appliance without requiring a complex swinging support mechanism, typical of known hot beverage makers. Alternatively, the hot beverage brewing appliance may have a removable water reservoir. The removable reservoir may have a handle integrated into the body of the reservoir.
