THIS INVENTION RELATES GENERALLY TO HOT MELT IRONS. MORE SPECIFICALLY IT RELATES TO AN ELECTRIC IRON FOR REJOINING A PIECE OF CARPET. IT IS WELL KNOWN IN THE CARPET INSTALLATION TRADE THAT THERE IS NO SAFE AND EASY WAY TO REJOIN A PIECE OF CARPET WHICH HAS BEEN CUT AROUND A SET OF RAILING SPINDLES IN A HALLWAY. THE TWO METHODS INCLUDE GLUEING OR STAPLEING. GLUEING CAN BE EXPENSIVE BECAUSE OF LOST MATERIAL DUE TO FREEZING IN WINTER AND IT IS VERY TIME CONSUMING TO APPLY. THE GLUES USED ARE TOXIC, FLAMMABLE AND VERY CORROSIVE. STAPLES ARE EXPENSIVE TO PURCHASE AND REQUIRE A LARGE ELECTRED GUN TO APPLY THEM. THE GUN WILL NOT FIT BETWEEN MOST RAILINGS AND LEAVES VERY VISIBLE MARKS IN THE CARPET WHICH RESULTS IN MANY CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. THE SITUATION CAN BE IMPROVED. THE OBJECT OF THIS INVENTION IS TO PROVIDE THE INSTALLER WITH AN ELECTRIC IRON TO OVERCOME THESE PROBLEMS WHICH IS SIMPLE TO USE AND VERY EFFICIENT.
