A precipitation measuring system (100) comprising a top thermal plate (101) positioned to maximize exposure to falling precipitation and includes at least one ridge (200) circumscribing the top surface for capturing precipitation. A second thermal plate (102) is positioned under the top thermal plate (101) to protect it from falling precipitation while still exposing it to the same atmospheric temperature and wind conditions. At least one solar radiation sensor (114) is connected to the precipitation measuring system (100) to measure solar radiation contacting at least one of the top and bottom thermal plates (101-102). During a precipitation event, the top and bottom thermal plates (101-102) are maintained at a constant temperature and a power consumption curve for each thermal plate (101-102) is quantified. The precipitation rate is measured by the difference in the power consumption curve for the top thermal plate (101) and the power consumption curve for the bottom thermal plate (102).
L'invention concerne un système de mesure de précipitations (100) comprenant une plaque thermique supérieure (101) placée pour augmenter au maximum l'exposition aux précipitations et comprenant au moins une crête (200) qui entoure la surface supérieure afin de récupérer les précipitations. Une seconde plaque thermique (102) est placée sous la plaque supérieure (101) pour la protéger contre les précipitations tout en l'exposant à une température atmosphérique et à des conditions de vent identiques. Au moins un capteur de rayonnement solaire (114) est relié au système (100) pour mesurer le rayonnement solaire au contact d'au moins une des deux plaques (101-102). Pendant des précipitations, ces plaques (101-102) sont maintenues à une température constante, et on quantifie une courbe de consommation de puissance pour chacune d'elles (101-102). On mesure le taux de précipitation par la différence entre la courbe de consommation de puissance correspondant à la plaque supérieure (101) et la courbe de consommation de puissance correspondant à la plaque inférieure (102).
