A high strength hot rolled steel sheet having good strength-elongation balance and stretch-flangability and being excellent in formability, wherein the composition of the steel satisfies the following requirements (by mass %): C is 0.05 to 0.15 %, Si is 0.5 to 2.0 %, Mn is 0.5 to 2.0 %, P is 0.05 % or less, S is 0.010 % or less, Al is 0.005 or more and less than 0.10 %, and Fe and obligatory impurities account for the residue of steel, wherein metal systems present are mainly three phases of ferrite, retained austenite and bainite, the amount of ferrite [V(F)] being 60 to 95 % by area, the amount of retained austenite [V(.gamma.)] being 3 to 15 % by volume, and the amount of ferrite [V(B)] being 1.5 times that of retained austenite [V(.gamma.)] by area or more, and wherein an average hardness of bainite is 240 to 400 Hv.

Cette invention se rapporte à une tôle d'acier laminée à chaud haute résistance, présentant un bon équilibre résistance/allongement et une bonne aptitude au rabattement des bords, ainsi qu'une excellente aptitude au formage. La composition de l'acier de cette tôle satisfait aux proportions suivantes (% en masse): 0,005 à 0,15 % de C, 0,5 à 2,0 % de Si, 0,5 à 2,0 % de Mn, 0,05 % de P ou moins, 0,010 % de S ou moins, 0,005 % ou plus et moins de 0,10 % de Al, Fe et les impuretés obligatoires constituant le reste de cette composition d'acier. Les systèmes métalliques présents constituent essentiellement trois phases de ferrite, d'austénite retenue et de bainite, la quantité de ferrite [V(F)] représentant 60 à 95 % en superficie, la quantité d'austénite retenue [V(.gamma.)] représentant 3 à 15 % en volume et la quantité de ferrite [V(B)] étant supérieure de 1,5 fois celle de l'austénite retenue [V(.gamma.] en superficie ou plus, et la dureté moyenne de la bainite étant comprise entre 240 et 400 Hv.
