ABSTRACT The hot runner mould has at least one hot runner section equipped with an outer housing which is provided with a flow channel and at least one inlet opening and one outlet opening. An elec- trically operated heating conductor is disposed in the flow channel and is concentrically enclosed by a spaced metal tube. This metal tube forms the outer boundary of the flow channel 4. Thermal insulation is disposed between the metal tube and the inner surface of the outer housing. The metal tube has a high heat accumulation capacity and good thermal conductivity and provides for rapid heat- ing of the plastic melt. At the points of the hot runner section at which the plastic melt requires more heat than at points there is an additional supply of heat from the metal tube so that homo- genisation of the plastic melt over the entire length of the hot runner section takes place through the metal tube.
