The present invention provides methods of decorating a glass substrate with hot stamping foil. The method includes applying a radiation curable adhesive ink to a glass substrate in a predetermined design that leaves some of the glass ink-free. The ink is designed when cured to bond to glass and when heated after curing to adhere to hot stamping foil. The ink is cured on the substrate by exposing it to radiation, thereby bonding the ink to the glass. The foil sheet is pressed against the substrate with a compress at a temperature sufficient to cause the foil to adhere to the heated, cured ink design but not to the ink-free areas of the glass. The foil is peeled away leaving behind a portion adhered to the adhesive ink design. The substrate does not need further irradiating to complete adherence of the hot stamping foil.
La présente invention se rapporte à une méthode permettant de décorer un substrat de verre par estampage à chaud d'une feuille métallique. La méthode comporte l'application d'une encre adhésive à cuisson électronique sur un substrat de verre suivant un motif prédéterminé qui ne couvre pas la totalité de la surface de verre. Après cuisson, l'encre adhère au substrat; par la suite, lorsque chauffée, l'encre adhère à la feuille métallique estampée à chaud. L'encre est d'abord fixée au substrat de verre par cuisson électronique. La feuille métallique est ensuite appliquée sous pression sur le substrat de verre à une température suffisante pour que la feuille métallique adhère à l'encre séchée sans adhérer à la surface de verre nu. La feuille métallique est ensuite pelée, laissant derrière les portions de métal fusionné à l'encre. Le substrat ne requiert aucune cuisson additionnelle pour garantir l'adhésion de la feuille métallique.
