ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Ingot mould lining slabs have one or more apertures in their metal contacting face. Hooks are engaged in these and used to lift the slab from a stack and hang it in posi- tion in an ingot mould. The slab is then fixed to the mould wall, for example by nailing, and then the hooks are removed.
