A housing for an electrical circuit, with a pair of externally located contacts and a hinged cover. A latch mechanism holds the cover in a position in which it mechanically attaches an absorbent sensor pad to the housing and also presses the externally located electrical contacts into electrical connection with electrodes contained in the absorbent sensor pad. A container portion of the housing is watertight and includes a battery compartment whose closure is also watertight. The cover is movable through only a limited angle from its latched, retention, position, so that it keeps the contacts protected.
