A B S T R A C T A housing for an apparatus, in particular for a high-speed printer, is constructed in such a fashion that the various areas of the apparatus are accessible for service and maintenance. The housing has a basic frame defining two pairs of side walls and two end walls. First and second covers are mounted on the frame and the first cover has the configuration of a slid- ing door. The first cover is mounted for occupying a first position in which it covers part of one side wall of each pair and a second position over the second cover. The first cover is adapted to be pushed on top of the second cover. Furthermore, when the first cover is in the second position, the first cover combined with the second cover is adapted to be pushed beyond the frame. The first cover is preferably displaceable on guide tracks secured to the second cover. The second cover is displaceable on guide tracks secured to the frame.
