Human Cerberus proteins and related nucleic acids are provided. Included are proteins comprising a human cerberus domain having specific activity, particularly the ability to antagonize a bone morphogenic protein. The proteins may be produced recombinantly from transformed host cells with the subject nucleic acids. Also provided are isolated hybridization probes and primers capable of specifically hybridizing with the disclosed genes, specific binding agents and methods of making and using the subject compositions.

L'invention concerne des protéines cerberus humaines et des acides nucléiques associés. On décrit des protéines ayant un domaine cerberus humain à activité spécifique, dont notamment une action antagoniste vis-à-vis d'une protéine osseuse morphogénique. Il est possible d'obtenir lesdites protéines par génie génétique à partir de cellules hôtes transformées avec les acides nucléiques de l'invention. L'invention concerne aussi des amorces et des sondes d'hybridation isolées, capables d'hybrider spécifiquement les gènes décrits, ainsi que des agents de liaison spécifiques et des procédés de fabrication et d'utilisation des compositions en question.
