38-TR-9441 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hybrid deflection system for a cathode ray tube uses toroidal-type quadripolar correction coils. The correction coils have vacant areas within the coils which are devoid of any windings, the coils being wound in accordance with a Fourier series winding distribution on a split ring magnetic core of the deflection system which has saddle- type horizontal deflection coils and toroidal-type vertical deflection coils. The vacant areas of the quadripolar correction coils are positioned coincident with breaks in the split ring magnetic core to allow assembly of the core around the saddle-type horizontal deflection coils.
