A humidifier includes an impeller which propels water against a wick. An air flow directed at the wick flows through the wick, evaporates water in the wick, and carries the resulting water vapor out of the humidifier into the room. No unevaporated water droplets form on the outside of the vaporizer or on surrounding objects. Bacteria and mold growth is avoided or retarded, obviating the need for the constant replacement of parts such as a wick. The wick and other components such as the impeller or reservoir may be durable and dishwasher safe.
