An implantable device having a body of matrix material made up of insoluble collagen fibrils, and disposed therewithin: (a) a plurality of vertebrate cells; and (b) a plurality of microspheres each of which consists primarily of one or more of the following materials: collagen, polystyrene, dextran, polyacrylamide, cellulose, calcium alginate, latex, polysulfone, or glass.

L'invention concerne un dispositif implantable qui présente un corps de matière matricielle constituée de fibrilles de collagène insolubles, et qui est placé dans (a) plusieurs cellules de vertébrés; et (b) plusieurs microbilles constituées chacune principalement d'au moins un des matériaux suivants: collagène, polystyrène, dextrane, polyacrylamide, cellulose, alginate de calcium, latex, polysulfone ou verre.
