A pollution control device has a metal housing (12), a solid pollution control device (20) disposed within the metal housing, and a mounting mat (24) disposed between the pollution control element and the housing for positioning the pollution control element and for absorbing mechanical and thermal shock. The mounting mat includes a layer of intumescent material (26) having at least one insert formed of a resilient, flexible, fibrous non-intumescent material (28). The insert is positioned along at least a portion of at least one lateral edge of the mounting mat to prevent erosion of the intumescent material and to provide a seal between the pollution control element and the housing.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de contrôle de la pollution. Ce dispositif comprend un carter métallique (12), un dispositif de contrôle de la pollution solide (20) logé dans ce carter, et un élément de support (24) placé entre l'élément de contrôle de la pollution et le carter pour positionner cet élément de contrôle de la pollution et absorber le choc mécanique et thermique. Cet élément de support comprend une couche de matériau intumescent (26) présentant au moins un insert formé d'un matériau (28) non intumescent fibreux, flexible et élastique.
