A compact multiplexing device having two monolithic waveguide blocks, preferably formed of glass are coupled to a dichroic GRIN lensed filter disposed between the blocks. Each of the waveguide blocks have a waveguide concentrator therein for providing output waveguides spaced at a convenient spacing of for example 125µm and have opposite ends, spaced with much closer spacing, for example 25 µm. Advantageously, this allows for smaller waveguide blocks to be used, and a smaller GRIN lensed filter to be used.
