ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hydrant and valve assembly providing a housing having an inlet portion and an outlet portion interconnected by a riser pipe and collectively bounding a chamber; a seat mounted transversely within the chamber; an apertured spindle reciprocable through the seat and providing a plurality of aperturees at its oppo- site end portions to permit flow of fluids therethrough; an operating stem manipulable to reciprocate the spindle; and at least one relief valve adapted to evacuate fluids remaining in the assembly when not in operation.
