A patient support (10) is provided comprising a support surface (16), a base (12), and a lift assembly (14) positioned to support the support surface (16) above the base (12). The lift assembly (14) includes an actuator (18) configured to adjust the height of the support surface (16). The actuator (18) includes a housing (26) formed to include first and second cylinders (82, 84). The actuator (18) further includes a first piston (60) positioned in the first cylinder (82) and a second piston (62) positioned in the second cylinder (84). The first piston (60) includes a first fluid passage (124) therein. The second piston (62) includes a second fluid passage (126) therein.
