13 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hydraulic motor circuit includes a hydraulic breaking feature which reduces the stopping time of the motor when the motor is turned off by stopping the flow of hydraulic oil to the motor. Conventionally, the control valve used in such circuits places the motor ports in communication with each other via the valve when the latter is placed in its neutral position, thereby permitting the motor to continue operation for a period of time due to inertia of the motor parts and of the driven elements. According to the present invention the control valve when placed in the neutral position blocks oil flow between the valve and the motor, and a pressure relief device is provided for relieving oil from the motor exhaust connection into either the other motor connection or into the reservoir of the hydraulic circuit.
