Abstract of the Disclosure A control valve for providing an output force acting over a distance for controlling the position of a force member includes a valve body for connection to a source of control fluid at a supply pressure. A follower piston is movably received in the body and has means for coupling the piston to a force member the position of which is to be controlled. The piston and the body cooperate to define a first control chamber adjacent a first end of the piston and a second control chamber adjacent the second end of the piston. A control stem is received in the body and coacts with the piston for modulating a first pressure in the first control chamber and for modulating a second pressure in the second control chamber. The first pressure and the second pressure are substantially equal to a quiescent pressure when the control stem is in a quiescent neutral position and the quiescent pressure is intermediate that of a supply pressure and a tank pressure.
