A hydraulic heating system has a closed hydraulic circuit pressurized by a pump, a high pressure valve set to a level permitting hydraulic fluid in the system to be pressurized to a level whereby the temperature of the fluid is raised, a throttle downstream of said high pressure valve operable to control the flow of the hydraulic fluid at high pressure and temperature, and a heat exchanger between the throttle valve and the high pressure valve.
