ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A press, comprising a frame supporting an upper and lower bed for attachment of an upper and lower bolster, the upper and lower bolster each carrying mating halves of a complementary die, and a piston-cylinder assembly for producing a work stroke and a return stroke wherein the piston rod extending from the piston-cylinder assembly is affixed at its free end to the frame and the cylinder slides about the piston to operate the upper bolster of the press. A stroke control is provided to permit the piston cylinder assembly to operate at multiple speeds during the work stroke and return stroke.
