A B S T R A C T A device is described for freeing press fit parts from shafts. A hydraulically acting piston is provided in a main cylinder body, one end of which is provided with an inlet for hydraulic fluid under pressure and the other end of which is provided with an aperture through which said piston may extend under pressure from hydraulic fluid. At least two puller arms are arranged around the main cylinder body and extend forwardly thereof a distance sufficient to grip a said part on a shaft that is aligned with the piston that extends from the main body. At least two relatively smaller hydraulic cylinders extending radially outwardly from the main hydraulic cylinder, and are in fluid communication therewith. The smaller pistons are aligned with the puller arms, whereby pressurization of the main hydraulic cylinder causes said relatively smaller cylinders to be pressurized, and thereby causes said puller arms to come into gripping engagement with said part, before the piston of the main cylinder is pressed outwardly by hydraulic pressure.
