A hydraulic coupler for connecting fluid conduits, includes first and second coupler parts. The first coupler part includes a cylindrical tube upon which is formed an outwardly projecting annular bead. The bead has a radially extending shoulder facing away from a first end of the tube and a frustoconical surface facing towards a second end of the tube. The second coupler part has a bore for receiving the first end of the tube, and has a slot in an outer surface thereof for receiving a spring element. The spring element engages the shoulder when the first and second coupler parts are assembled, and retains the first coupler part in the second coupler part. An O-ring seal is clamped axially between the frustoconical surface and the second coupler part.
