A suspension system attaches an engine to a vehicle frame and includes resilient mounts that are relatively soft with respect to vibrational movement of the engine along horizontal and vertical axes. This soft connection reduces transmission of vibration from the engine to the vehicle frame. The suspension system also provides a pair of hydraulic restrainers mounted on opposite sides of the engine which react equally, but in opposite directions to loads. The hydraulic restrainers are relatively stiff with respect to torsion that results from engine rotation, yet is soft with respect to translational movement of the engine.

Suspension servant à fixer le moteur d'un véhicule à son châssis. La suspension comprend des supports élastiques relativement souples lorsqu'il s'agit d'absorber les mouvements de vibration du moteur dans les axes vertical et horizontal. Ce système de fixation élastique réduit le transfert des vibrations du moteur au châssis du véhicule. La suspension comporte également deux amortisseurs hydrauliques, fixés sur les côtés opposés du moteur, qui réagissent de la même façon, mais en directions opposées en réponse à des charges. Les amortisseurs hydrauliques sont relativement rigides lorsqu'ils s'agit d'amortir des torsions résultant de la rotation du moteur, mais flexibles dans le cas des mouvements de translation du moteur.
