ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In apparatus for the transporation of particulate solid material having a wide range of particle sizes, a liquid is added to the material to produce a first slurry, which is transported hydraulically. After transporation coarse particles are removed from the slurry to produce a second slurry and waste is produced by combining part of the second slurry with a liquid produced from the remainder of the second slurry from which fine particles have been removed by a solid-liquid separator. The waste is returned to the transporation source and is used as the liquid for producing the first slurry.
