ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel catalytic composite is described as well as its use in hydrocarbon conversion processes. This composite has exceptional activity and resistance to deactivation when employed in a hydrocarbon conversion process that requires a catalyst having both a hydrogenation - dehydrogenation function and a cracking function. The dual-function catalyst of this invention comprises a porous carrier material, a platinum group metal component, and a tin component. The platinum metal component is present in an amount in the range of from about 0.01 to about 1.0% by weight, and the tin component in an amount in the range of from about 0.01 to about 5.0% by weight. The catalyst com- posite may also contain a halogen component in an amount in the range of from about 0.1 to about 1.5% by weight.
