A method of isomerizing a hydrocarbon, comprising, in the presence of hydrogen, bringing a hydrocarbon containing C7 or C8 saturated hydrocarbons (known as heavy naphtha) in a proportion of 50 wt.% or more into contact with a solid acid catalyst having a platinum group metal component borne on a support, the support comprising as metal components at least one Group IV metal component selected from the group consisting of titanium, zirconium and hafnium and at least one Group VI metal component selected from the group consisting of tungsten and molybdenum. This isomerization is preferably performed at 190 to 250 ~ C under a pressure of 0.8 to 10 MPa. With respect to the catalyst, a solid acid catalyst wherein the support further comprises aluminum as a metal component is preferably used.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'isomérisation d'hydrocarbures. Ce procédé consiste, en présence d'hydrogène, à amener un hydrocarbure contenant des hydrocarbures saturés en C¿7? ou C¿8? (connus sous le nom de naphta lourd) selon une proportion de 50 % en poids ou plus en contact avec un catalyseur acide solide dont un composant métallique du groupe platine est placé sur un support. Ce dernier comprend, comme composants métalliques, au moins un composant métallique du groupe IV sélectionné dans le groupe se composant de titane, zirconium et hafnium et au moins un composant métallique du groupe VI sélectionné dans le groupe se composant de tungstène et molybdène. Cette isomérisation est, de préférence, effectuée entre 190 et 250 ·C sous une pression de 0,8 à 10 MPa. En ce qui concerne le catalyseur, on utilise, de préférence, un catalyseur acide solide dont le composant métallique est de l'aluminium.
