The present invention relates to a process and apparatus for remediation of hydrocarbon contaminated soil beneath a structure having a horizontal floor and footing foundation. In the process the soil around the perimeter of the structure is excavated forming a trench. A grillwork of pipes is provided within the trench. The grillwork of pipes comprises at least one horizontal perforated pipe, at least one vertical delivery pipe connected to the horizontal pipe and at least one vertical exit pipe connected to an opposite end of said at least one horizontal perforated pipe. The at least one vertical delivery pipe and the at least one vertical exit pipe extend upwardly to a ground surface and the at least one horizontal perforated pipe is oriented so that the perforations are facing toward an area under the structure. A substantially vertical barrier is provided around the grillwork of pipes and the perimeter of the structure. The trench is filled around the vertical barrier with stone leaving an area free of stone to provide a vent. High strength hydrogen peroxide solution is injected into the at least one vertical delivery pipe, the hydrogen peroxide being delivered to the contaminated soil to react therewith through the at least one vertical delivery pipe and the at least one horizontal perforated pipe. The vertical delivery pipe and the vertical exit pipe are then capped to contain the reaction.
