A hydrodynamic shaft seal assembly (10) and method of forming hydrodynamic grooves (50) involves forming a spiraling open channel (54) portion in the face of the seal element and cutting a flex- enhancing portion (56) extending from the open channel portion further into the seal element (12) to enhance the flexibility of the seal without further enlarging the open channel portion.
Cette invention a trait à un dispositif d'étanchéité d'arbre hydrodynamique ainsi qu'à un procédé de confection de gorges hydrodynamiques. Ce procédé consiste à former une partie constituant un canal ouvert en spirale dans la face d'un élément de dispositif d'étanchéité et à couper une partie améliorant la souplesse s'étendant de la partie canal ouvert vers l'intérieur de l'élément du dispositif d'étanchéité et ce, afin d'améliorer la souplesse du dispositif d'étanchéité sans élargir encore la partie constituant un canal ouvert.
