A process is disclosed for hydroentangling polymeric filament webs for production of low basis weight nonwoven fabrics. A hydroentangling device having a foraminous forming surface (12) is employed for hydroentangling a precursor web (P) to form a fabric. High-speed production of relatively low basis weight fabrics can be achieved, with the fabrics exhibiting desired softness, uniformity, and strength characteristics.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'enchevêtrement de bandes de filaments polymériques, utilisé dans la fabrication de tissus non tissés de faible poids surfacique. Un dispositif d'enchevêtrement par procédé hydraulique comprenant une surface (12) de formage foraminée est utilisé pour enchevêtrer une bande précurseur (P) afin de former un tissu. On peut ainsi produire à grande vitesse des tissus de faible poids surfacique, lesdits tissus présentant les caractéristiques recherchées de souplesse, uniformité et résistance.
