A space (10) for a motor vehicle comprising a first hydroformed, longitudinally extending tubular lower side rail (12) and a second hydroformed, longitudinally extending tubular lower side rail (12), the lower side rails being laterally spaced from one another and extending in generally parallel relation to one another. Also included is a pair of generally parallel, hydroformed tubular upper longitudinal structures (20), each being an integrally formed structure fixed to an associated one of the lower side rails. Each upper longitudinal structure has a longitudinally extending portion (26) constructed and arranged to support a roof of the motor vehicle, each longitudinally extending portion extending longitudinally between an upper end of an A pillar (24) of the space frame and an upper end of a rearward-most pillar (28) of the space frame. The hydroformed tubular upper longitudinal structures thus define lengths between the vehicle A pillars and the rearward-most pillars of the space frame. Laterally extending connecting structure connects the lower side rails to one another.
Cette invention concerne une caisse tridimensionnelle (10) pour véhicule à moteur, laquelle caisse comprend un premier rail latéral (12), inférieur, tubulaire, longitudinal et hydroformé, ainsi qu'un second rail latéral (12), inférieur, tubulaire, longitudinal et hydroformé. Les deux rails latéraux et inférieurs sont espacés latéralement l'un de l'autre et sont globalement parallèles l'un par rapport à l'autre. Cette caisse comprend également deux structures longitudinales (20), supérieures, tubulaires et hydroformées qui sont globalement parallèles et qui consistent chacune en une structure intégrale fixée à un rail inférieur et latéral correspondant. Chaque structure longitudinale supérieure possède une partie longitudinale (26) qui est conçue et disposée de manière à supporter le toit du véhicule. Chaque partie longitudinale s'étend longitudinalement entre l'extrémité supérieure d'un pilier A (24) de la caisse tridimensionnelle et l'extrémité supérieure d'un pilier (28) situé complètement à l'arrière de cette caisse. Les structures longitudinales, supérieures, tubulaires et hydroformées définissent ainsi des longueurs entre les piliers A et les piliers situés complètement à l'arrière de la caisse tridimensionnelle du véhicule. Des structures de connexion latérales permettent de relier les rails latéraux inférieurs l'un à l'autre.
