A system and method in accordance with the present invention applies short bursts of a high temperature fluid to a hydrogen-loaded fiber to relocate the hydrogen within the fiber in the proximity of the fiber~s core - to achieve a fiber having significantly improved photosensitivity. A stronger fiber grating is realized when the fiber is subsequently exposed to ultraviolet light.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant d'appliquer des petites décharges d'un fluide à température élevée sur une fibre chargée d'hydrogène, aux fins de replacement de l'hydrogène dans la fibre, à proximité du coeur de celle-ci - de manière à obtenir une fibre présentant une photosensibilité sensiblement améliorée. L'exposition subséquente de la fibre à un rayonnement ultraviolet permet d'obtenir un réseau de fibres plus résistant.
