A hydrogen production and water recovery system for a fuel cell utilizes hydrogen storage in a metal hydride or the like. An exhaust stream from the fuel cell is passed through the storage media, simultaneously to cool the exhaust stream to promote condensation of water vapor and to heat the media to promote generation of hydrogen. The recovered water can be stored, returned to a coolant loop, and at a later time electrolyzed to generate hydrogen.

L'invention porte sur un système de production d'hydrogène et de récupération de l'eau s'appliquant à une pile à combustible, ce système utilisant le stockage de l'hydrogène dans un hydride métallique ou autre. Un courant d'évacuation venant de la pile à combustible passe dans le milieu de stockage simultanément pour refroidir le courant d'évacuation afin de favoriser la condensation de la vapeur d'eau et chauffer le milieu afin de favoriser la génération d'hydrogène. L'eau récupérée peut être stockée, renvoyée dans un circuit de refroidissement et par la suite, électrolysée pour générer l'hydrogène.
