A process for recovering hydrogen (109) from a mixed hydrocarbon stream (101) wherein the mixed hydrocarbon stream is subjected to a separation technique (C101, S101, C102) to produce a substantially hydrogen enriched stream (106), which is then recovered as hydrogen product. A process for providing refrigeration duty to the process is also disclosed, wherein a substantially methane enriched stream (110) arising from the separation technique (C102) is expanded (X101) to provide cooling duty for the process.
