There is provided a novel hydrometallurgical process for the extraction of copper from sulphidic concentrates involving an oxidizing pressure leach using dilute sulphuric acid and a carbonaceous additive. The leaching step is carried out preferably at temperatures above the melting point of sulphur but below about 200 °C.

La présente invention concerne un procédé hydrométallurgique nouveau d'extraction du cuivre de concentrés sulfurés, mettant en oeuvre une lessive sous pression oxydante utilisant de l'acide sulfurique dilué et un additif carboné. La phase de lessivage est exécutée de préférence à des températures supérieures au point de fusion du soufre mais inférieures à environ 200 DEG C.
