Abstract of the Disclosure A composition suitable for forming into a contact lens compris- ing a hydrophilic copolymer consisting essentially of from 10 to 95% by weight of a hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate, from 5 to 90% by weight of an alkoxy alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, and up to 10% by weight of a cross linking agent, from 0.1 to 1.0% by weight of a catalyst, and up to 40% by weight of a water soluble inert substance dissolved throughout said copolymer.
